A number of flights over Iranian airspace had been diverted early Friday, based on flight monitoring web site Flight Radar 24, as Iran’s semiofficial Fars information company reported an explosion heard over the province of Isfahan. Tensions within the area are excessive following Iran’s unprecedented assault on Israel — itself in retaliation for a lethal Israeli strike on an Iranian diplomatic compound in Syria earlier this month.
